Department of Biotechnology invites the applications under the BioCARe fellowship Programme for women researcher.
The programme is targeted to enhance the participation of women researchers for their
Career Development in the area of Biotechnology.
BioCARe Fellowship Introduction :
Biotechnology Career Advancement and Re-orientation(BioCARe) Programme, a special programme of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, aims to enhance participation of women researchers in India towards research in Biotechnology and allied area.
The programme is mainly for the career development of unemployed female researchers’ for whom it will be the first “sanctioned” extramural research funding.
Through this endeavour of the Department, a concerted effort would be made to give women researchers a strong foothold into the scientific profession, to help them re-enter into the mainstream and to provide a launch pad for further forays into the field of science and technology. Accordingly, applications are invited from Indian female researchers to apply in the programme
Subject Areas of Research in Biocare Fellowship :
- Animal and Marine Biotechnology or allied areas
- Bioengineering and Biomaterials or allied areas
- Medical Biotechnology or allied areas
- Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy or allied areas
- Plant and Agriculture Biotechnology or allied areas
Eligibility Criteria:
Only Indian women are eligible for this fellowship program. Candidates who are currently employed in a permanent job position are ineligible.
Age:
upto/below 55 years
Application Date :
The last date for submission of application will be sixty (60) days from the date of advertisement of call for applications i.e. 1st December, 2024.
Education Qualification :
i. Category-I: Women Researchers who have completed Ph.D. in any discipline of Life
Sciences or allied areas/interdisciplinary sciences/MD/MDS/M. V. Sc.
ii. Category-II: Women Researchers who have completed M. Tech in Biotechnology or in
allied areas/M Pharma/equivalent Degree holders
Selection of the Candidates :
- Candidates must apply through the link provided on the website or as specified. Applications submitted through any other method will not be considered and will be rejected. Please submit a complete application, including General Information, Research Proposal, Budget, and Regulatory Details.
- Eligible applications will be reviewed by an Expert Committee formed by the Department. The Committee will shortlist candidates based on scientific merit. Shortlisted candidates will present their research proposals to the Committee. Once a project is technically approved, a formal sanction order will be issued as per the Committee’s recommendations.
- Select Your Mentor
- Applicants can submit applications from government-supported or government-funded institutions (such as central universities, state universities, autonomous institutions, private universities/institutes, etc.) or Indian non-profit institutions. Ideally, the applicant should not be related to any institute official. The institution must adhere to the program guidelines set forth by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
Date of commencement of Project & its Duration:
The duration of the project is of three (3) years

Step 1 : Visit the Common Fellowship Portal at https://fellowships.gov.in/
Step 2 : Create your CFP ID by following these steps
Step 3 : You can log in to your account with your CFPID or E-mail used for registration. The default password is your DOB in the format DDMMYYYY
Step 4 :Fill all your details to create your profile. Complete and Save all the sections carefully. Profile creation is necessary to proceed with the filling of the Application form
Step 5 : Complete all rest steps and upload documents and submit.
